Apple Recipes, Crafts, and Activities Roundup

I am so excited that this sweltering California weather is finally starting to cool off. I can't wait to break out my cozy scarves and start baking some delicious fall desserts. Apple recipes are on my to-do list and taking a trip up to Oak Glen for apple cider, apple picking, and all the kettlecorn I can eat will be such a fun way to celebrate the arrival of fall. I am excited to share amazing apple themed posts (recipes, crafts, and apple inspired activities) from some of my friends in the Social Fabric community.

Groomsmen Gift Boxes

Houston really wanted to give his groomsmen a thoughtful and practical thank you gift for being in our wedding. He knew he wanted to give each gentleman the accessories that would need for the wedding:  a tie, pocket square, belt, socks and shoes.

He looked for a way to package the items for each of the guys in something other than a simple when he found this storage box that looks like a leather trunk at Hobby Lobby!

It took us 4 separate trips to the store to find 4 of the same  style boxes, but it was totally worth it.

We lined the box with simple white tissue paper and then placed the gift items in the box. Another piece of paper to tuck everything in, and I called it good.

Each box got a tag with the groomsmen's name that I hand-lettered and we attached to the tag to the handle with simple twine.

Houston gave the packages to his groomsmen the morning of our wedding and they all thought they were great!

Red and Orange Fall Dessert Tablescape

Fall is coming and this red and orange fall dessert tablescape would be perfect for an office party or an easy setup for Thanksgiving.

Yesterday I shared an easy DIY craft for dressing up my jar candles that I picked up over the weekend. Well, I figured since I was starting my fall decorating I would share an easy to create fall dessert table.

Fall is coming and this red and orange fall dessert tablescape would be perfect for an office party or an easy setup for Thanksgiving.

With potlucks, Friendsgiving, and Thanksgiving coming up, you can never be too prepared.
For my fall inspired dessert table, I started with my color palette of fall colors: burnt orange and shades of red.

I grabbed my favorite cake stands and got to putting out my desserts: pumpkin spice cupcakes, caramel chocolate bark, pudding trifles, mini pies, cookies, and a caramel-covered cake.

Then I layered in my wrapped candles, bushels of wheat, and mini pumpkins. I placed some of my wrapped candles on mini cake stands to give additional height to the table and stacked two cake stands for my centerpiece and my caramel cake.

This fall dessert table would be easy to set up ahead of Thanksgiving dinner so guests can help themselves to dessert afterward – or steal a couple cookies before dinner like I do.

Tell me what your favorite fall dessert is in the comments!

How To Make a Fall Candle Wrap

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #LoveAmericanHome #cbias #CollectiveBias

The weather in California has finally started to cool down (knock on wood) and it has me craving all things fall. Bring on the pumpkins, hot chocolate, and crisp weather so I can wear a scarf.

This is a quick and easy craft on how to make a fall candle wrap. These are great for adding a little extra DIY flare to your fall decor. #ad #LoveAmericanHome #cbias #CollectiveBias

I think fall is giving Christmas a run for its money when it comes to my favorite decorating in the house. I love the entryway project I made last year and couldn’t wait to get everything out again and start decorating this year. One thing I always change when I decorate for fall is the fragrances of my candles around the house; in the summer I use fresh and clean fragrances, but in the fall it is all about candles that remind me of baked goods and yummy pies.

I decided to dress up my American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand candles with an easy craft using my new Silhouette machine. The fall candle wrap makes my candles more cohesive when they are on a table or as part of my décor. Doesn't it look festive?

I pick up my American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand candles at Walmart (in the candle aisle near the home décor department). I love the variety of fragrances that Walmart carries and that the candles burn clean from start to finish – nobody likes ash in their candles, right? Right.

I grabbed an assortment of fragrances that remind me of fall: Homemade Pumpkin Pie, Apple Cinnamon Cider, Sweet and Salty Caramel, and Buttercream Frosting.

How To Make a Fall Candle Wrap
  • Cut strips of paper from cardstock with a paper trimmer. I used complimentary colors for the candle I would be wrapping. My paper was 2 inches wide for the large jars and 1.5 inches for the medium sized jar.
  • Wrap the strip around the American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand candle and trim the excess if there is any.
  • Mark where to cut out the leaf shape on the strip.
  • Use a Silhouette machine to cut out the leaf shape. I purchased this shape from the Silhouette Design Store, but you could use a punch or a design of your own.
  • Attach the paper strip to the candle jar with some glue dots.

The negative shape lets me see the candle color through the paper strip and I know it will look so pretty when my candle burns down and the light from the wick shows through the shape. (Be sure to practice safe candle burning and follow the instructions on your American Home™ by Yankee Candle® candle jar; including trimming the wick so the flame doesn’t get too large.)

I can't wait to use these wraps for all my fall parties and tablescapes. Tomorrow I will be sharing more photos from my fall dessert table, complete with these fall candle wraps.

I would love to hear what your favorite American Home™ by Yankee Candle® fragrance is (the Sweet and Salty Caramel is mine) - tell me in the comments!

Groupon Things To Do - No Plane Required

This is a sponsored post for Groupon. All opinions are always my own.
Finding fun things to do doesn't have to be expensive! Use the Groupon "Things To Do" in your zip code to find loads of great deals on activities near honme! #Groupon #ad
If you have been around the blog for a while, you know that I finally finished my bachelor’s degree last month and I have been relishing in the extra hours I have back in my life. After seven years of working full time and going school, I am so relieved that it is over.

Dear homework, I don’t miss you.

Well, I have filled my newfound hours with a bad case of wanderlust and have been daydreaming about using some of my vacation time. Houston and I have been planning our next travel adventure, but I also like perusing Groupon for things we can do locally on a budget on the weekend.

Houston and I met while I was clipping coupons on the Metrolink, so it is no surprise that I love saving money but I also like to go out and have a good time. We have used Groupon for the Los Angeles County Fair (going on now!), a round of golf, and other fun activities near home.

It is easy to find Groupon Things To Do in an area near you – just pop in your zip code and hit search. Then click "Local" and select Things To Do and Groupon will populate fun things for you to do that are near home and within your budget!

On the top of my list: a relaxing spa facial, some discounted movie tickets, and a whale watching tour.

What are the fun activities you would like to try in the Groupon Things To Do near you?
