A couple weeks ago we were at my sister’s house and my dad, brother-in-law, and Houston were watching a football game on T.V. What started out with the just the guys watching turned into the entire family jumping up and down screaming as two teams battled it out in overtime. It was so amazing to look around the room and see my whole family having such a wonderful time together.

So, I decided I needed to come up with some football themed snacks and have everyone over for some more family fun before the end of football season. It isn’t every day you can have three generations together, my nephews yelling "take it to the house!" and have everyone cheering at the same time!

First things first: what do I feed my big family, including three teenagers (seriously, those boys can EAT!)? My simple solution: slow cooker chili! I can make a huge batch of chili for everyone to eat, the slow cooker helps keep it warm, and everyone can help themselves! I found adorable football themed bowls for the chili which meant I didn’t have to dishes after everyone left.

One of my favorite things about doing a bar style meal is that everyone can add toppings they want and leave out what they don’t like.  I am all about adding avocado to everything, but I know that isn’t for everybody; instead I put small finger bowls on the counter filled with toppings and everyone can take what they would like; an easy way to score with your biggest fans!

While Houston and I were picking up ingredients at Walmart, I decided it would be fun to add some RITZ® Crackers as a topping. The extra saltiness of the crackers was just what my bowl of chili needed and they were perfect for dipping in my chili. Some of my other favorite toppings include: cheese, onions, or avocado!

Now it can be a little spicy, especially if you substitute the green chilis for jalapenos, and I love an ice cold soda when my tongue is on fire. We grabbed a six-pack of Coke Zero while we were at Walmart and I was so excited when they were on sale (2 for $5 on all Coca-Cola 500ml 6-packs)!

The recipe for the chili can be made on the stove top in about an hour or in the slow cooker for about 7 hours (whichever is more convenient for you).
